Nokia introduces Beacon 4 and 9 with Wi-Fi 7
|Now, finally something that I would gladly test has been announced. Nokia has officially expanded its Wi-Fi 7 portfolio with the launch of two new home broadband devices – Beacon 4 and Beacon 9. These new entries are designed to bring ultra-fast and reliable Wi-Fi 7 to a broader global audience, making the next generation of wireless connectivity more accessible than ever.
While most Wi-Fi 7 solutions are currently reserved for premium setups, Nokia’s approach focuses on democratizing high-speed internet, offering gigabit speeds and robust coverage through entry-level and mid-tier devices. The Beacon 4 and Beacon 9 are crafted to meet the increasing demands of modern homes—think 4K streaming, online gaming, smart home devices, and more.
So, what is new?
Beacon 4 (Dual-band) offers speeds of up to 3.6 Gbps, ideal for most home users who want reliable, high-speed internet at an affordable price. It supports 2.4 and 5 GHz (2×2 MIMO), covers up to 250 m², offers 3.6 Gbps speeds with 160 MHz on 5 GHz, and includes 2.5 GbE WAN + 2×1 GbE LAN (RJ45) ports. Dimensions are 126.5 × 160 × 43 mm.
Beacon 9 (Tri-band) reaches 9.4 Gbps, perfect for households with many connected devices and heavy data consumption. This beacon supports 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz (2×2 MIMO), covers up to 280 m², offers up to 9.4 Gbps with 320 MHz channels on 6 GHz, and includes 2.5 GbE WAN, 2.5 GbE LAN, and 1 GbE LAN (RJ45). Dimensions of the beacon are 173.5 × 140 × 71.5 mm. Think of it as a premium experience at a mid-range price point.
Both devices are powered by Nokia’s Corteca software, which enables service providers to manage networks more easily and offer new value-added services via the Corteca marketplace.
With the continued rollout of XGS-PON and 25G PON fiber networks, there’s a real need for matching that speed on the wireless side inside homes. Nokia’s new Beacons ensure users can truly enjoy multi-gigabit speeds without wires and without limits.
Now, Wi-Fi 7 isn’t just another spec bump—it’s a key piece in enabling the smart homes of the future. Expanding access to Wi-Fi 7 while giving service providers room to innovate will drive wider adoption.
This is a full family of Wi-Fi 7 devices. With the introduction of Beacon 4 and 9, Nokia’s Wi-Fi 7 lineup now includes:
- Beacon 4
- Beacon 9
- Beacon 19
- Beacon 24
Each one is tailored to different needs and budgets, showing Nokia’s commitment to future-proofing homes across the globe. If you’re planning to upgrade your home network or you’re a provider looking for versatile Wi-Fi 7 options, Nokia just made the decision easier.
