Gmail is getting a huge AI upgrade

Gmail, probably the most popular email platform worldwide, is getting one of the most significant AI updates ever. If you use this service regularly, you’ve probably noticed that searching for messages by keyword doesn’t always yield the best results. Or at least not the as if you’d expect from Google.

In order to improve the user experience, Google has announced that it is implementing an AI component into the Gmail search engine. So finding the data you’re looking for should take much less time than before.

Likewise, instead of displaying messages in chronological order based on keywords, Gmail will now take into account elements such as time, where recent messages will have priority. The same applies to emails with the most clicks, as well as those received or sent to the most represented contacts.

This means that the most recent messages you’ve received will no longer necessarily be at the top of the search results, but rather those that the AI considers more relevant to you.

How useful and effective this change will be for users remains to be seen.
