HMD Skyline and Fusion survive JRE Review
|About two weeks ago, while I was enjoying my trip to Spain, Zack from JRE published his classic smartphone disassembly review of the HMD Skyline. It’s been a while since an HMD-launched device featured on his YouTube channel. I believe the last one Zack reviewed was the Nokia 9 some 5 years ago, but feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
Zack also tested the Fusion, and both Skyline and Fusion passed the bend test, though Fusion deformed slightly where the battery meets the motherboard. He praised Skyline’s design, repairability, and the affordable parts available worldwide on the iFixit website. Zack mentioned Skyline lacks OIS, which is incorrect, but potential buyers will likely check the specs before relying on his video.
Kudos to Zack for doing the video and HMD for sending him devices for “destruction.” Check out the video:
Both phones are featured in JRE’s Smartphone Durability Awards video which is commendable for HMD. Skyline won JRE’s Most repairable title.
