HMD Fusion’s Missed Opportunities and Future Potential
|The concept behind HMD Fusion intrigued me, as it promised a range of possibilities, including specific hardware and design customizations. However, when the final product hit the market, I felt a bit disappointed—not just by the hardware choices but by the missed opportunities.
When HMD Fusion received FCC certification, the antenna diagram gave a glimpse of how impressive this device could have been. Even the colors shown on the diagram looked much better than those we ultimately saw. Granted, I haven’t yet seen the device in person, but several anticipated features were missing: the transparent body, diverse color options, and a simpler yet higher-quality hardware setup. Well, the device looks kind of cool, but it could be even cooler.
The addition of Smart Outfits might improve the experience, but the current lineup could still use a bit more imagination. For example, the Flashy outfit is stylish but could be enhanced with features like wireless or reverse wireless charging, decorative LED strips (à la Nothing phone), and maybe an extra button.
Perhaps HMD Fusion 2 will set things right :).
