Nokia and HP Sign Patent License Agreement

This is a biggie. Nokia has just signed a multi-year patent license agreement with HP, which covers the use of Nokia’s video technologies in HP’s devices. Under this agreement, HP will make royalty payments to Nokia, marking another successful licensing deal for the Finnish tech giant.

Nokia stated that this agreement also resolves all ongoing patent litigation between the two companies across all jurisdictions, providing a clean slate for both.

This deal is just one example of Nokia’s strength and long-term commitment to video and multimedia technology innovation. The company has been developing video and multimedia technologies (video compression, content delivery, content recommendation and aspects related to hardware) for a long time. However, this also means that Nokia is mostly in software development and not so much in hardware development, something we are most happy about.

Terms of the agreement remain confidential.
