HMD promotes its Fusion device with the latest Venom movie

HMD Fusion is an entry-level mid-range phone built on the solid idea of offering a simple, affordable device that can be enhanced with relatively smart add-ons. However, it has two major drawbacks: the hardware isn’t appealing enough for consumers willing to experiment, and the smart add-ons aren’t as smart as they could be. Each accessory designed by HMD adds just one feature to the device, and there’s potential for more useful additions—such as a large LED with wireless charging, or other enhancements.

That said, Fusion is just the first device in this series, and it seems unlikely that HMD will stop here. Their recent efforts to promote the phone suggest there’s more to come.

HMD is now sponsoring the latest Venom sequel, with HMD Fusion set to share the spotlight alongside the main characters. Hopefully, the partnership won’t be too “venomous” for the company, as such sponsorships don’t come cheap and haven’t always been fruitful.

While such high-profile sponsorships can boost visibility, it remains to be seen whether it will significantly impact sales, as past efforts didn’t appear to lead to a major market breakthrough. Just remember the Nokia 8.3 campaign with the James Bond movie.

All in all, the movie Venom: The Last Dance hits the cinemas on October 25th. ​
