A new Nokia featurephone gets certified

A new phone model developed by HMD has recently been certified by the FCC. The model number is TA-1683, and the most intriguing aspect of this phone is that it bears the Nokia logo. Classified as a feature phone, the certificate document refers to it as a mobile phone. It comes with a 1000 mAh battery. However, the position of the camera and battery compartment, along with the overall body design, suggests it might be an unusually styled feature phone.

The certification documents don’t reveal much, except that the software is likely S30+ (version 10:00.17.00) and the phone will support 2G networks. The phone will have slots for two SIM cards, located below the removable battery, along with the TF card (external memory) slot.

The certification suggests that this 2G phone is ready to be announced, most likely sometime this summer (which is already here, but who’s counting?).
