Happy New Year, dear Nokiamobsters!
|Another year is over, another rotation around the sun is behind us. We welcome 2024, which should be interesting for several reasons. Nokia itself is going through a rough period as 5G is peaking, and operators aren’t expanding their networks as much as they did years before.
Also, HMD announced its new strategy and rebranded itself as the Human Mobile Devices company that should be bringing (smart)phones and tablets with proven tech at reasonable prices. Nokia phones should also be included in their portfolio, but we could be seeing a decline in those branded products. In 2023, Nokia clearly stated that the phone manufacturing history is behind them and rebranded the looks completely.
Nokia as a brand is now a memory which HMD can’t bring back to its previous glory, but it has some good phones like the XR21, which is the best-looking rugged device on the market. The most expensive one also, until Samsung launches its own rugged phone.
Anyways, Nokiamob was also here to cover the news from the Nokia world, which isn’t as large as it used to be. Many of our writers took a break; some went full iPhone, and some are dedicated more to studies and life in general.
This year hasn’t brought us much, just the XR21 and G42 5G, which are the only things worth mentioning. I kind of hoped to see Android 14, but that is reserved for 2024. CES is just around the corner, but I doubt HMD will launch new US devices, although they can always surprise us.
I hope you are all happy and healthy and that you welcomed the new year in good company and celebrated it well. Do share your photos in the comments!
On behalf of all the Nokiamob team (Stipe, Abdulla, J.K., Indranil, Krešo, and Jett), I wish you a healthy and prosperous New Year!
