Nokia G42 5G launched in India for ₹12599, Amazon sale on 15th September

NokiaNokia Mobile is trying to go all out in India with the Nokia G42 5G, starting by making it the first 5G smartphone by the brand to be made in the country to pricing it way below the device’s global average price. Apart from that, the company has roped in an Indian actress named Mrunal Thakur as the face of the smartphone.

The last time the brand collaborated with any celebrity in India was probably in 2021 for the Nokia 3.4 and Nokia 2.4. The Nokia G42 5G is the most affordable 5G smartphone by the company yet, with a focus on self-repairability thanks to its QuickFix design. However, HMD Global has not confirmed whether spare parts via iFixit will be made available in India, without which that feature does not hold much value.

Launch Price and Other Details

In one of its final launch teasers for the device, the company was hinting at a price above ₹16,000, but it pulled a surprise by announcing the launch price to be just ₹12,599 ($152, €142) for the 6/128 GB variant. The sale starts at 12 PM on 15th September on Amazon. As per the official website, the newly launched “So Pink” shade will be available in India apart from the So Purple and So Grey shades.

The launch prices of Nokia smartphones started improving with this year’s C-series smartphones under the former Vice President (VP) – India, HMD Global. The current VP – India has gone a step ahead with an even more competitive and attractive launch pricing for the Nokia G42 5G, which is surprisingly less than the launch price of last year’s Nokia G21 (₹12,999).

The only setback for the Nokia G42 5G will probably be its HD+ display as almost all the other smartphones in this range with similar features boast of having an FHD+ display.

Nokia Mobile has not revealed all the details yet, but the price is marked as “recommended best buy price.” There are chances that the launch price will be limited for some days or weeks only. We will update the post with more details as and when they become available.
