Nokia 8.3 5G coming to the US this Fall; Juho Sarvikas appointed as VP for North America
|Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer, HMD Global, has been appointed as the new Vice President for North America. HMD Global, in a statement, said that with this new position, Juho Sarvikas’ responsibility will be to “unify product marketing efforts and strengthen relations with carriers to deliver the next generation of Nokia smartphones to North American consumers.”
Furthermore, HMD Global also said that the company hopes to stay in the close vicinity of the telecom carriers in North America, with Juho Sarvikas focusing on expanding the range of Nokia Mobile’s prepaid and postpaid devices in the U.S.
Announcing the same, Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer and Vice President for North America, HMD Global, said,
“I am so excited to be back in the U.S. and thrilled to be working with our world-class carrier partners. After years of building capabilities that cater to some of the most demanding smartphone customers in the world – and establishing our brand-new global R&D Centre in Finland – it’s a natural next step to come back to the U.S. to lead this talented team. A Nokia smartphone is the perfect choice for our prepaid and value consumers; with a new vision and focus on 5G, we’re bringing devices that balance cost, usability, and future-proofing to our fans in a completely different segment.”
Additionally, HMD Global also announced that customers in the US will get to purchase the Nokia 8.3 5G starting this Fall (post mid-September). That could be the Verizon Wireless variant of the Nokia 8.3 5G that was also spotted on Geekbench about two months ago. The first 5G smartphone from Nokia Mobile, the Nokia 8.3 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 765G and comes equipped with the debuting ZEISS Cinema effects, PureView quad camera with ZEISS Optics, and OZO audio to improve the overall multimedia functionality.
The new corporate title is already visible on the LinkedIn profile of Juho Sarvikas, which now reads that he was given the responsibility back in May, this year and he is working from San Diego, California, US. Previously he was based in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China, where he also held the position of interim Chief Marketing Officer until the arrival of Stephen Taylor in the company. However, the changes have not yet happened on HMD Global’s site, where Maurizio Angelone is still mentioned as the Vice President, Americas.
Since, Juho Sarvikas has previously held managerial positions in the US while working for Nokia and Microsoft, his experience will help him in cementing HMD Global’s position in the US.
