Rumor: Nokia 9.2 coming with SD865, and foldable Nokia phone in late 2020, early 2021.
The same source that brought us news about the upcoming Nokia phones that we might be seeing at the end of February in Barcelona also brought some rumors about the new Nokia 9 (Nokia 9.1 or 9.2), a new foldable Nokia phone and some canceled accessories. Again, we are not able to confirm this, so please treat the news as a rumor. However, since all these rumors came from some trusted sources before, they are good enough to inform the general Nokia loving public.
So, Nokia 9.1 might be substituted by Nokia 9.2 since the phone’s processor is being upgraded from SD 855+ to 865. The display might be bezeless, and the front-facing camera upgraded with 32 or 48MP sensor. The size of the back camera sensors are still not known, but the source said that the phone will be coming with wireless charging. The 3.5 mm headset port is dropped out, as well as the early launch date which is now expected to be sometimes after June 20.
This tipster confirmed what Nokia Anew mentioned previously about the cancellation of some official Nokia accessories. It seems that HMD Global canceled a mini projector, a selfie light, a power bank, a fitness tracker, 2 smartwatches, and a mini printer. The only thing that is currently being tested is the wireless charger pods, but the faith of those is yet to be determined. The latest rumor says that some Nokia wearable might be seen in Barcelona.
The source said that some delay in the shipping of already announced & upcoming devices in the Q12020 are to be expected because of the current situation in China with Coronavirus, and HMD’s shift of business to Europe. Currently, they’re in the process of reducing the workforce in China and are changing their focus to India, then Europe, the rest of Asia, Latam, Australia, the US, and finally New Zealand.
Do share your thoughts about this. I also think that the cancellation of projector, selfie light and mini printer are justified, but I would love to see a Nokia smartwatch and fitness band. There is a place for those products, and Nokia fans would love to have it. While the wireless charged pods are a nice addition to the Nokia ecosystem, Nokia power earbuds could be shipped to more markets since those are a great looking and promising product. The foldable phones are the future of smartphone design, and Moto Razr showed the shape that should be followed. Even Samsung is thinking the same, so no wonder that Nokia Mobile is also planned to release the foldable phone. Nokia 2720 showed to be quite popular, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see the foldable smartphone version of 2720 or maybe the Nokia Flip phone.
