Mega rumor: Nokia Mobile to launch Nokia 8.2 5G, Nokia 5.2, Nokia 1.3 and an Original Series phone at MWC2020
With just weeks before the most important event in the mobile phone industry, the new edition of Mobile World Congress, new info about the planned Nokia phones are popping out. The huge batch of tips is coming from China, actually from the source that is well informed about the current portfolio of Nokia phones and accessories, but since we don’t have any kind of document or photo that can verify it, we’ll take it and treat it just as a rumor. But, I have to say that this set of rumors are similar to many more we received in the past few days, and that is the reason we are going with this.
Nokia Original Series
The source said that the launch of a new Original Series Nokia phone was expected around the Chinese New Year, but the current outbreak of the Coronavirus cancelled all the planned events there. The source said that the info about the device is kept tight, so he didn’t find out much about it.
The same source said that Nokia Mobile is planning to postpone the announcement of the Original series Nokia phone for MWC where it will be accompanied by Nokia 1.3, Nokia 5.2 and Nokia 8.2 5G. The final names of the phones are yet to be confirmed, but he said that these models can be expected in Barcelona.
Nokia 1.3
New Nokia 1(.3) could be coming with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory, 13MP rear and 5MP front camera that might have a front flash seen like in C1. The battery could have a capacity of 4000 mAh, and it will be removable. The design of the device could be similar to the design of the Nokia 2.3, with the 3D nano-textured plastic cover and plastic frame that could house a relatively large LCD screen (around 6 inches) with a U shaped or tear drop notch. The color palette could be vibrant as seen in Nokia 1 Plus. The MediaTek chipset could be used, and breathing light skipped. The source mentioned that the price could be set around €79.
Nokia 5.2
He also mentioned that Nokia 5.2 will come with 3+32 GB (for all) & 4+64 GB (for some countries) configuration, similar design camera module seen in 6.2, where 16+8MP cameras will be used. The selfie camera is set to 8 MP. The 3500 mAh battery could be used to power 6.2″ LCD screen and SD 632 processor. The color options could be the same as those of Nokia 6.2, and breathing notification light might be used as well. The price could be set at 169 EUR for the base model.
Nokia 8.2 5G
According to the source, 4G Nokia 8.2 is canceled and that left space for Nokia 8.2 5G. The base model could come with 6+128 GB, while the limited edition might have the 8GB/128 or 256 GB configuration. The processor is Snapdragon 765, which is the first one to come with the integrated 5G modem. The camera module design and setup could be similar to the module of Nokia 7.2, but the device is coming with a 32MP front pop-up camera. We still don’t know if the display will be pOLED or LCD, but the source also mentioned that the battery will have the capacity of around 3500 mAh, 3.5mm headphones jack, a laterally placed fingerprint scanner but without the breathing notification light, and wireless charging might be dropped also. The price of the base model might be around 459 EUR. The previous rumor about the curved display proved to be wrong, and the position of the pop-up camera on the top of the frame is yet to be confirmed. The new Nokia 8 may get back it’s metallic copper color version which we saw at Qualcomm summit.
