Should Nokia Mobile extend official accessories to BT speakers and fitness trackers/watches?
|Back in 2018, I had a chance to chat with a great Alberto Matrone, a former VP of HMD for the CEE region about all things HMD and Nokia. One of the things I was interested most was the return of the official Nokia accessories like chargers, earphones, cases, but also BT speakers, and maybe some new ones like a smart tracker. Mr. Matrone did say that HMD was focused more on bringing back the Nokia smartphones to game, but that there is a place for the accessories too since those are great for raising the awareness of the Nokia brand and spreading the ecosystem. Anyway, some great Nokia accessories like True Wireless / Power earbuds and wireless chargers (DT-10W, DT-500) are launched, but hardly available at the markets around the globe, which is still a mystery for me.
Anyway, I still think there is a place for more accessories and that wouldn’t be impossible for HMD to do. For example, a good BT speaker like Nokia JBL PlayUp, or a Nokia branded fitness tracker similar to Huawei GT watch or Amazfit GTR/GTS, could be a great addition to the family of Nokia accessories. HMD could cooperate with Huami, which is a company that manufactures smart/fitness gadgets for Xiaomi, to make a simple Nokia fitness tracking watch. Microsoft killed a Nokia Moonraker, but its design could be reused for something new, something simple that many would like to have. I am sure that some people would like to replace their old Play 360/PlayUp or have a more digital Nokia watch than Nokia Steel HR, which could be now almost two years old.
Maybe the time of loud BT speakers is over and Earphones are dominating the scene. I still like to crank up my JBL PlayUp and enjoy the good sound.
Anyway, what do you think about this? Would you like to see, or even own, a Nokia watch or a propper BT speaker? Do share your thoughts since the voice of the community is appreciated.
