Total of 16.8 million Nokia phones shipped in Q2 2019 – Counterpoint
|Counterpoint Research released their infographic about the mobile market in the second quarter of 2019. The infographic shows regional market shares, as well as details about the feature phone market.
In Q2 2019, as we already know, HMD Global shipped 4.8 million Nokia smartphones. Thanks to new data from Counterpoint, we now know that the company also shipped 12.04 million Nokia feature phones. That’s the lowest shipment numbers since HMD Global announced its existence in Q2 2017.
In total, that makes 16.8 million Nokia phones shipped in Q2 2019. That’s an improvement compared to the Q1 2019, but still less than 20 million total in the same period last year.
In terms of regional market share, according to Counterpoint, HMD is no where to be found in the smartphone segment, while the situation with feature phones is better. Globally, HMD was the second biggest feature phone vendor with 14% market share. In India, HMD took the 5th spot with 9% market share; in Rest of Asia region HMD was No. 1 with 25% market share, same as in Europe. In North America the company was second with 9% feature phone market share, while in Middle East and Africa Nokia feature phones secured the 3rd spot with 13% market share. The brand had no presence in top 5 in Latin America.
It’s also interesting to see Alcatel feature phone taking the top spots in the Americas, considering the Alcatel brand is also owned by Nokia Corporation and licensed to TCL, just like the Nokia brand is licensed to HMD Global.
