Nokia the 3rd smartphone brand in Sri Lanka with 10%+ market share

At the recent launch event of Nokia 5.1 Plus and Nokia 6.1 Plus in India, HMD’s CEO Florian Seiche said on stage that Nokia smartphones were already among the top 10 smartphone brands globally, and in top 5 brands in 25 markets around the globe. One of the markets Nokia smartphones have been well received is Sri Lanka, a island country in the Indian Ocean.

As ft.lk reports, HMD Global Thailand and Emerging Asia General Manager Sandeep Gupta stated on the launch event for Nokia 6.1 Plus for the local market that, as of March, Nokia captured 10.8% of smartphone market share. Samsung and Huawei were No.1 and No.2, while the battle for the 3rd place was fought between Nokia and Oppo.

I couldn’t find additional info about Nokia 6.1 Plus availability in Sri Lanka and if you have more info, please share with us in the comments down below.

It’s nice to see the Nokia brand recapturing market in smartphones and growing in some markets already to top 5 brands. We all eagerly await the announcement of new Nokia flagship(s) that will, depending how good they are, hopefully increase Nokia’s smartphone market share.
