HMD Global patents some elements of the camera UI (EUIPO)

Over at the European Union Office for Intellectual Property few new patents submitted by HMD Global were fully published. The five patents come under the design number 004138246-0001/0002/0003/0004/0005, and basically describe some of the elements that can be found on the new Nokia Pro camera app, that comes preinstalled with Nokia 6.1, 7 plus and 8 Sirocco, and should soon be available for the Nokia 8. To be frank, most elements existed before the new camera app and are taken from camera app that Nokia 8 came with.

Among patented elements we can see “bothie”, dual-sight video recording, OZO Audio settings, settings for livestreaming and other elements. If the option is available, protecting elements of a smart made UI seems logical. After all, the wheel with manual camera settings is also patented.

Now we are left with 5 unique products whose design patents HMD submitted to EUIPO for protection. All of the currently available Nokia devices are patented so we can be sure that under some of those not-yet-fully-published patents new Nokia devices are hiding. Maybe even the Nokia X.
