Nokia awarded $137 million in arbitration with BlackBerry

Nokia announced via a press release that the company is pleased that the International Chamber of Commerce’s International Court of Arbitration  ruled in favor of Nokia in a dispute with BlackBerry over not fully paying the agreed amount from a patent license. Court awarded Nokia with $137 million, and Nokia mentions in the press release that a significant portion of this amount is already recognized in past financial reports.

BlackBerry has, at the moment, a separate dispute with Nokia were the company claims Nokia infringes 11 patents in their networks gear. Nokia commented that dispute in the press release saying that: “Nokia continues to believe that BlackBerry’s unrelated claims of patent infringement by Nokia are without merit.
