Rumors: Android Oreo for Nokia 8 could come as early as end October

This week HMD held a launch event for the Nokia 8 in Taiwan. The 8 should be available starting tomorrow for just €446, reports SOGI. The most interesting thing that happened during the event was a manager at HMD allegedly revealing that Android Oreo for the Nokia 8 could start rolling out at the end of October. That was given as the earliest release prediction, so it could be pushed back few weeks, depending how the testing of Oreo goes.

This info was shared with a person that attended the event and later shared it via social media. The info was picked up by VTechgraphy. We cannot confirm how much this info is reliable, so take it with a pinch of salt.

This week, at a separate launch event in Indonesia, HMD’s General Manager for Australia, New Zeland and Indonesia Mark Trundle said in an interview that Nokia 3, 5 and 6 should get Android Oreo by the end of this year. Two weeks ago, HMD’s CPO Juho Sarvikas shared via Twitter that HMD is beta testing Oreo on the Nokia 8, and that the update will be out once it’s perfect.
