Confirmed: HMD will attend MWC2018; Can we expect new Nokia phones?
|At this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, HMD Global, the maker of Nokia phones, announced four new Nokia-branded devices – the Nokia 3310, Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and the global version of Nokia 6. On the official Mobile World Congress site, HMD Global appeared as an exhibitor for the event scheduled for February 2018. Nokia is also registered as an exhibitor for MWC 2018.
What can we expect from HMD at MWC2018? Considering that HMD announced almost all phones (Nokia 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8) this year, with the Nokia 9 being rumored for launch by the end of the year, it’s hard to guess which new phones could HMD announce. Nokia 9 is rumored to come with Snapdragon 835 and we already saw some photos of the housing and front panel, which suggests that the device is already being manufactured. The 9 has to go on sale before the end of this year, because we saw what happened with LG’s G6 this year – great device, but undermined with a last year SoC. Hopefully, a global variant of Nokia 7 will launch also before the end of the year, because waiting for February 2018 seems a little too long.
Moreover, maybe HMD will launch new versions of Nokia 3, 5 and 6 that were launched on MWC2017, but we didn’t hear anything about possible successors of the current lineup, so it’s less likely that it will happen, but who knows?
