OnePlus Ace 7 and Ace 7 Pro Launched: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Active Cooling

OnePlus Ace 7

Just three weeks after the global debut of the OnePlus 16, the company has officially launched its highly anticipated OnePlus Ace 7 and Ace 7 Pro in China. Engineered from the ground up for mobile gamers and power users, the new Ace series boasts massive 9,000mAh batteries, ultra-fast 185Hz displays, and a physical cooling fan integrated directly into the chassis.

Available now, the standard Ace 7 starts at ¥4,399 (approximately $655), while the fully loaded Ace 7 Pro begins at ¥4,799 (around $715). While the two devices share a robust foundational architecture, they diverge significantly in processing power and camera capabilities.

Pro vs. Standard: Where They Diverge

The primary distinction between the two models lies under the hood. The Ace 7 Pro is powered by the uncompromising Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, ensuring peak performance for the most demanding titles. The standard Ace 7, meanwhile, utilizes a slightly scaled-back Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V series chip.

On the optics front, both devices sport a massive 200MP main sensor and a 16MP front-facing camera. However, the Ace 7 Pro elevates its photography game with a 50MP periscope telephoto lens capable of 3.5x optical zoom, alongside support for 8K video at 30fps, 4K at 120fps, and professional Log mode recording. The standard Ace 7 foregoes the telephoto lens, opting instead for an 8MP ultrawide sensor.

Beyond these differences, the hardware is nearly identical. Both feature a premium metal frame, a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, symmetrical stereo speakers, and an X-axis linear motor. They also offer comprehensive durability with IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K dust and water resistance ratings. On the software side, they run ColorOS 17, featuring Xiaobu Assistant, AI Tap, and the new Fluid Cloud Fusion navigation system.

Ice River Cooling and E-Sports Chips

The standout feature of the Ace 7 series is its aggressive thermal management. OnePlus has introduced the “Ice River” dual-channel cooling system, marking the first time an Ace device features an active fan. The system directs airflow via two paths: one blasting the internal chip and the other cooling the rear panel. Augmented by tower-style fins and a massive vapor chamber, OnePlus claims this setup can drop chip temperatures by up to 10°C during an hour of Peacekeeper Elite at 185fps. An integrated AI temperature sensor dynamically adjusts the fan speed based on real-time thermal predictions.

To further cater to the competitive gaming demographic, OnePlus has integrated three dedicated e-sports chips:

  • T3 Touch Chip: Slashes swipe latency by 80% and tap latency by 43%, supporting up to 800Hz gyroscope sampling.
  • G3 Network Chip: Dedicated to minimizing online latency and network drops.
  • P4 Display Chip: Offloads screen rendering tasks to ensure buttery-smooth visuals.

The visual experience centers around a 6.78-inch panel with a crisp 2772 x 1272 resolution. While the system-wide refresh rate caps at 165Hz, supported games can push the panel to a blisteringly fast 185Hz. Powering this setup is a colossal 9,000mAh battery supporting 100W wired charging. Crucially for gamers, both phones feature bypass charging, allowing the device to draw power directly from the cable without charging the battery, drastically reducing heat buildup during extended play sessions.

OnePlus Ace 7 Pricing and Availability

Currently, the Ace 7 series is exclusive to the Chinese market. Following OnePlus’s recent retreat from the US and European markets, an official Western release remains highly unlikely. However, industry rumors suggest the Ace 7 Pro could eventually launch in India rebranded as the OnePlus 16R, potentially priced around Rs 75,000, though OnePlus has not confirmed this strategy.
