Android 10 Q developer preview available as Over-the-Air update for Nokia 8.1
|Nokia Mobile released this month a new Android 10 Q developer preview build for Nokia 8.1 devices via the Developer Preview program. Up until today, users that wanted to take a part in the developer preview program had to manually flash the Q build on their devices, but now there is an option to request a more convenient Over-the-Air update.
The developer preview build 5 can be downloaded OTA on Nokia 8.1 devices on Android 9 Pie. If your phone is on Q build 3, you have to update to build 5 manually. It’s important to back-up data before installing Android Q developer preview builds, because the data gets erased. Keep in mind that is pre-beta software, meaning with bugs, unstable and is not recommended to use on daily driver devices.
Update X August 2019
Greetings Nokia 8.1 Android Q developer preview fans.
Good news – OTA download of the beta 5 Android Q build (V4.070 for ROW and V5.070 for Russia) is now available for devices currently running Android 9 Pie. These releases include the July 2019 Security Patch.
Devices running the beta 3 build (V4.011) must upgrade to beta 5 (V4.070) as soon as possible. This is only possible via sideload method.
Please note, we are unable to offer the Android developer preview builds to devices in China, or to certain network providers.
The program currently supports models TA-1119, TA-1121 and TA-1128. To check your device is compatible, go to Settings > System > About Phone > Model & hardware.
- If you see reference to “00WW” then you’re good to go.
- If you see reference to “00CN” then please do not use these builds.
