Review roundup: Nokia 3.1 Plus for Cricket a “value champ” in the USA
Two weeks ago, HMD Global announced the return of Nokia smartphones to US carrier market by partnering with Verizon Wireless and Cricket Wireless. Verizon Wireless users have a chance to get the Nokia 2.1, called Nokia 2V, for 70 dollars, while Cricket Wireless customers have a more exciting offering – Nokia 3.1 Plus for 160 dollars.
The Cricket Wireless version of Nokia 3.1 Plus is different from the global version. The main specs that differ are housing materials, SoC and charging port. You can check the differences in detail here.
US-based tech media got their hands on some Nokia 3.1 Plus Cricket review units. As we are not from the US, it’s unlikely we will review the device (we don’t even know if the regular 3.1 Plus will be coming here), but according to Android Authority, Central and Police, the 3.1 Plus is quite a good device for its price.
Android Central calls the 3.1 Plus a value champ and recommends it in this price category. All three sites find the performance and camera as something that’s not great on 3.1 Plus, and that’s not surprising considering it runs Snapdragon 439 with 2GB of RAM and is a budget device. At that price point though, it’s hard to find an overall better device selling in the same sales channel.
The better things about 3.1 Plus are the 2-day battery life, nice design and build quality, latest Android 9 Pie that will receive updates and a big display. Priced at 160 dollars at Cricket Wireless, it really seems like a good deal for non-demanding users. The reviews at Cricket’s webstore are also good – 4.2 stars from 11 reviews.
