Redmi Band 4 Arrives with 5ATM Water Resistance and 21-Day Endurance

Redmi Band 4

Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has quietly released the Redmi Band 4 in China, bringing a refined design and extended battery life to its budget fitness tracker lineup. Retailing at 169 yuan (approximately $25), the new wearable is available for purchase starting today and directly succeeds the 2024 Redmi Band 3.

The Redmi Band 4 upgrades its exterior with a unibody metal-textured frame and 2.5D curved cover glass. The device features a 1.47-inch display with a smooth 60Hz refresh rate. To better secure the tracker during intense workouts and daily wear, Redmi introduced a vertically textured strap equipped with an updated pin-style clasp.

Battery Gains and Connectivity Trade-offs

Endurance is the standout upgrade for this generation. The band is rated for up to 21 days of maximum battery life on a single charge—a three-day improvement over its predecessor. With continuous, all-day health monitoring activated, the battery life drops to a still-respectable eight days.

Despite the battery gains, the Redmi Band 4 surprisingly removes a key connectivity feature: Near Field Communication (NFC). While the previous Redmi Band 3 supported NFC for contactless transit and offline payments, the new model relies entirely on WeChat and Alipay QR codes for wrist-based transactions.

Health, Fitness, and Smart Features

The wearable retains a comprehensive suite of health and activity tracking tools, including:

  • Vitals Tracking: Continuous heart rate monitoring and blood oxygen (SpO2) readings.

  • Daily Wellbeing: All-day stress tracking, in-depth sleep analysis, and women’s health management.

  • Activity Logging: 50 dedicated sports modes covering everything from running and cycling to table tennis.

  • Durability: 5ATM water resistance, making it safe for swimming and showering.

Outside of fitness, the band handles basic smartwatch functions such as displaying message notifications, managing alarms, and swapping customizable watch faces. The slight price bump to 169 yuan marks a steady increase from the original Redmi Band’s 99 yuan debut in 2020, but the device remains firmly positioned as a highly competitive option in the ultra-budget wearable market.
