Vivo S70 Series Leaks: November Launch and Major Camera Upgrades Expected

Vivo S70

Vivo is apparently gearing up to disrupt the mid-range smartphone market once again. Known for its aggressive biannual release strategy for the S-series in China, the tech giant is reportedly preparing to launch the Vivo S70 lineup this November, just six months after the debut of the Vivo S60.

According to reliable industry tipster Smart Pikachu, a highly competitive wave of mid-range, camera-centric smartphones will hit the Chinese market next month. While the November launch window is expected to include heavyweights like the Honor 700 series and the Oppo Reno 17 lineup, Vivo appears ready to distinguish the S70 with a significant optical advantage.

The leak suggests that only one brand in this upcoming batch of releases will feature a large-sensor periscope camera with teleconverter support—a description that strongly points to Vivo. If accurate, the S70 could boast a substantially larger telephoto sensor than the 50-megapixel periscope lens found on its predecessor. Furthermore, adding support for an attachable teleconverter would allow users to achieve extreme zoom capabilities without having to shell out for a premium flagship. Until now, Vivo has reserved this modular camera accessory strictly for its top-tier X-series devices.

Building on a Powerhouse Predecessor

To understand the baseline expectations for the S70, it is worth looking at the formidable hardware of the current Vivo S60. Released in May, the S60 blurs the line between mid-range and flagship.

The current model sports a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a crisp 2750 x 1260 resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, and a blinding peak brightness of 5,000 nits. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, running on the Android 16-based OriginOS 6.

On the camera front, the S60 already packs a punch with a 50-megapixel primary sensor featuring optical image stabilization (OIS), a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens capable of 3x optical zoom, and an 8-megapixel ultrawide shooter. It also features a 50-megapixel front-facing camera for high-resolution selfies.

Perhaps most impressively, the S60 is fueled by a massive 7,200mAh silicon-carbon battery with 90W wired fast charging, all protected by robust IP68 and IP69 water and dust resistance ratings. If the S70 builds upon this foundation with superior optics and flagship-level teleconverter support, it could easily become one of the most compelling camera phones in its price bracket.
