Xiaomi 18 Pro Max India Launch Halted: Everything Need to Know
Xiaomi has officially pulled the plug on its plans to introduce the top-tier Xiaomi 18 Pro Max to the Indian market. Despite earlier indications that the device was undergoing local software testing, the model—identified in the GSMA database under the designation 2611FPNFAI—has been effectively withdrawn from India’s release roadmap.
As a result of this portfolio shakeup, the Xiaomi 18 Pro (model 2609BPN61I) will stand as the sole representative of the Xiaomi 18 series officially available to Indian consumers. The company has also confirmed that the standard base-model Xiaomi 18 will bypass the region entirely when it rolls out to global markets later this year.
With a global launch for the Xiaomi 18 Pro series slated for November 2026, Indian buyers looking for the Pro Max variant will now be forced to rely on the import market. However, the surviving 18 Pro model still brings a formidable hardware package to the region.
Heavyweight Hardware and Dual Displays
Positioned as a premium powerhouse, the Xiaomi 18 Pro is driven by Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset, anchored by high-speed LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage.
The device is built around a compact 6.4-inch TCL M11 LTPO AMOLED primary display, pushing a 2436×1120 resolution. The screen features a dynamic 1Hz to 120Hz refresh rate, 10-bit color depth, and full-range DC dimming, while peaking at a blinding 4,000 nits of brightness. Xiaomi has shielded the panel with its proprietary Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0. Fulfilling the series’ signature design language, the back of the phone houses a secondary 2.7-inch AMOLED display (912×596 resolution at 120Hz) designed for notifications and rear-camera viewfinder integration.
Leica Optics and a 200MP Telephoto
Xiaomi continues its deep partnership with Leica, equipping the 18 Pro with Summilux optics across a versatile triple-camera array. The system is headlined by a 50MP primary sensor (SmartSens Light Hunter 960L) featuring optical image stabilization. This is paired with a 50MP ultrawide lens (OV51D) and a massive 200MP Samsung periscope telephoto lens (S5KHP5), which delivers 3.2x optical zoom and distinct 12cm telephoto macro capabilities. A 50-megapixel OV50M sensor handles front-facing duties.
Massive Battery and Robust Build
To power the dual screens and flagship silicon, Xiaomi has integrated a massive 7,000mAh battery, regulated by the company’s custom Surge P4 fast-charging and Surge G2 battery-management chips. The device supports aggressive charging profiles: 100W wired, 50W wireless, and reverse charging capabilities at 27W (wired) and 20W (wireless).
The chassis is heavily fortified, securing IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for comprehensive water and dust resistance. Additional hardware features include an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint scanner, dual stereo speakers, an X-axis linear motor for haptics, and a dedicated AI hardware button. Connectivity is fully modernized with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, USB 3.2 Gen 1, and Xiaomi’s staple IR blaster.
Shipping with Android 17 and HyperOS 4 out of the box, the Xiaomi 18 Pro will be available in Black, White, Ice Peach Pink, Galaxy Blue, and a specialized Transparent Edition. The standard finish measures 8.46mm thick and weighs 203g, while the glass-backed variants add a marginal amount of bulk at 8.56mm and 208g.
