In an unexpected move, Redmi has quietly rolled out the global variants of its latest budget contenders: the Redmi 17 5G and Redmi 17 4G. While the Chinese domestic market recently received a version powered by the Unisoc T8300 chipset, international buyers are getting completely different silicon under the hood.

This dual-release strategy highlights Xiaomi’s aggressive push to tailor its hardware for varying global network standards and price sensitivities. Here is a comprehensive breakdown of what these new international variants bring to the table.

The Redmi 17 5G is positioned as the more premium of the two, utilizing Qualcomm’s efficient 4nm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 processor paired with faster UFS 2.2 storage. In contrast, the Redmi 17 4G opts for MediaTek’s Helio G91-Ultra chipset and relies on older eMMC 5.1 storage technology, making it the more budget-focused option.
