OPPO Find X9 Ultra Camera Specs Revealed: Absolutely Insane

OPPO Find X9 Ultra

As the battle for smartphone photography supremacy intensifies, OPPO has laid its cards on the table. The company recently took to its official Weibo channel to confirm the complete camera specifications for its upcoming flagship, the OPPO Find X9 Ultra. Positioned as a direct challenger to heavyweights like the Vivo X300 Ultra and Xiaomi 17 Ultra, the Find X9 Ultra features an advanced quad-camera array designed to push the boundaries of mobile optical zoom and low-light performance.

A Sensor Setup Designed to Dominate

At the heart of the Find X9 Ultra’s imaging system is a formidable main sensor, accompanied by not one, but two distinct periscope telephoto lenses, offering unparalleled versatility for mobile photographers.

The Quad-Camera Breakdown:

  • Main Camera: The device is anchored by Sony’s massive 1/1.12-inch, 200-megapixel LYT-901 (LYTIA 901) sensor. To maximize light intake, OPPO has paired this sensor with a fast f/1.5 aperture lens (23mm equivalent), setting the stage for exceptional performance in challenging lighting conditions.

  • First Periscope Telephoto (3x Zoom): For portrait and mid-range zoom photography, the phone utilizes a 200-megapixel OmniVision OV52A unit. This large 1/1.28-inch sensor features an f/2.2 aperture (70mm equivalent).

  • Second Periscope Telephoto (10x Zoom): Handling extreme distances is a 50-megapixel ISOCELL JNL sensor (1/2.75-inch) with an f/3.5 aperture. This lens offers a 230mm equivalent focal length.

  • Ultrawide Camera: Rounding out the array is a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-600 sensor (1/1.95-inch) featuring an f/2.0 aperture and a sweeping 14mm equivalent focal length.

Taking Aim at the Competition

The published specifications reveal OPPO’s strategic positioning against its rivals. While the Find X9 Ultra shares a similar primary sensor class with the Vivo X300 Ultra, OPPO opted for a wider aperture to capture more light. Additionally, OPPO’s 3x periscope sensor boasts a larger physical footprint than its Vivo counterpart, although its ultrawide hardware appears slightly less aggressive on paper.

OPPO is making bold claims regarding the device’s zooming capabilities. According to the company, the new 10x periscope telephoto lens will outperform the legendary 10x periscope system found on Samsung’s Galaxy S23 Ultra by up to 230% in terms of light-gathering capability. Furthermore, OPPO asserts that through advanced in-sensor cropping and software algorithms, the Find X9 Ultra will deliver virtually “lossless” images even at a staggering 20x magnification.

Smartphone enthusiasts and mobile photographers will not have to wait long to see these claims tested in the real world. The OPPO Find X9 Ultra is scheduled for its official global launch on April 21.
