HMD Watch X1 and P1 Announced, along with New Audio Gear

HMD Watch X1

HMD Global, best known as the maker of Nokia phones, is aggressively expanding its hardware portfolio beyond mobile handsets. The company has officially announced its foray into the wearable technology sector with the debut of two smartwatches—the premium HMD Watch X1 and the entry-level HMD Watch P1.

In addition to the wristwear, HMD has introduced a comprehensive suite of audio products, unveiling six new TWS (True Wireless Stereo) earbuds under the new HMD Dub series.

Watch X1 and P1: HMD’s Wristwear Debut

The new smartwatch lineup is designed to cater to two distinct market segments. Leading the charge is the HMD Watch X1, which positions itself as the more premium offering. It features a sharp 1.43-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 466×466 pixels and a peak brightness of 600 nits. Thanks to the OLED technology, the X1 supports Always-On Display (AOD) functionality and animated watch faces. It also boasts a robust build with IP68 water and dust resistance and a battery life rated at up to 5 days with AOD enabled.

On the more affordable end of the spectrum is the HMD Watch P1. This “versatile” model swaps the AMOLED screen for a 1.83-inch LCD panel (240 x 284 pixels) with 550 nits of brightness. While it steps down slightly to an IP67 durability rating and offers a 4-day battery life, it retains much of the core functionality of its more expensive sibling.

Shared Ecosystem Features Despite their hardware differences, both watches run on HMD’s proprietary real-time operating system (RTOS) and pair with Android and iOS devices via the HMD Watch App.

They share a comprehensive health tracking suite, including heart-rate and SpO2 monitoring, sleep and stress tracking, and support for over 700 activity modes. Both devices feature Bluetooth calling, music controls, notification support, and utilize standard 22mm straps for easy customization.

The Watch X1 launches in Gray Green, Black, Gray Metallic, and Silver Leather, while the P1 is available in Black and Silver. Pricing and global availability for the watches have yet to be disclosed.

HMD Dub Series: Audio for Every Budget

HMD’s audio expansion is substantial, with the Dub series covering various price points and feature sets.

  • Flagship Audio: The Dub X50 Pro headlines the range. It features Bluetooth 5.3, Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), quad microphones for clear calls, and IPX4 splash resistance. It offers a total battery life of 60 hours, with the buds themselves lasting nearly 16 hours on a single charge.

  • Endurance King: The standard Dub X50 drops the ANC but maximizes battery life, offering a massive 70 hours of total playback (17.9 hours from the buds alone).

  • Mid-Range and Budget: The lineup is rounded out by the Dub S60 (ENC, 35 hours playback), the Dub P70 (ANC, 45 hours playback), and the entry-level Dub P60 and P50, offering 30 and 25 hours of playback respectively.

Pricing and Availability While global pricing remains under wraps, HMD revealed pricing for the Philippines market, giving us a clue regarding positioning. The Dub X50 retails for PHP 1,790 (approx. $30), the Dub S60 for PHP 1,690 (approx. $28), and the Dub P60 for PHP 1,190 (approx. $20).
