Huawei Watch Fit 4 Review: ECG and Premium Build in a Sub-€300 Smartwatch

Huawei recently launched its first Pro model within the popular Fit smartwatch series: the Huawei Watch Fit 4. Having previously used Huawei’s older GT3 model, transitioning to the new Watch Fit 4 has revealed considerable enhancements and new capabilities, making it appealing even to casual smartwatch users.
Huawei Watch Fit 4 Design and Build Quality
The Huawei Watch Fit 4 features a distinctive rectangular AMOLED display, reminiscent of the Apple Watch yet presenting unique stylistic details. Constructed from aviation-grade aluminum alloy, it weighs only 35 grams with its strap, making it both lightweight and exceptionally sturdy. Its durability is further enhanced by sapphire glass and a specialized nylon strap that dries quickly, offering comfortable use even during strenuous activities. Additionally, the watch is water-resistant up to 50 meters, ideal for swimming or snorkeling.

The design seamlessly integrates the display with the bezel, especially noticeable when utilizing the Always-On function or darker watch faces. On the right side are two buttons: a rotating crown that facilitates easy navigation through the menus, and a second button integrated with an ECG sensor powered by Huawei’s advanced X-Tap technology—exclusive to the Pro model.
Health and Fitness Tracking
The Watch Fit 4 excels in health monitoring, boasting improved standard sensors for heart rate tracking and SpO2 measurement, providing quicker and more accurate readings—blood oxygen saturation measurements now take only 15 seconds. The smartwatch also introduces ECG functionality, helping users detect potential cardiac irregularities early, although Huawei emphasizes it should not replace professional medical evaluations.

Fitness tracking capabilities are extensive, supporting over 100 different sports and activities. The smartwatch also features specialized tracking modes for activities like golf and hiking, complete with maps and route guidance. Improved GPS antennas significantly enhance location tracking accuracy, even in environments where reception traditionally fluctuates.
Huawei Watch Fit 4 Software and User Experience
Operating on Huawei’s HarmonyOS 5.1, the Watch Fit 4 delivers a smooth user experience, despite hardware limitations typical for smartwatches. Navigation is intuitive, with quick access to notifications, smart assistance features, and comprehensive health metrics. However, detailed views of notifications such as email contents remain somewhat limited.

Call functionality has also improved, thanks to enhanced microphone quality, ensuring clearer audio during calls than previous models like the GT3.
Battery Life and Connectivity
Battery life continues to impress, typically lasting up to two weeks on a single charge, ensuring long-term usability without frequent recharging. Huawei’s Health app, compatible with both Android and iOS devices, complements the watch’s functionality, providing detailed health analytics and offering a premium fitness coaching subscription.
Huawei Watch Fit 4 Price and Value
Priced just below €300, the Huawei Watch Fit 4 offers significant value, combining numerous advanced features with sleek design aesthetics, making it suitable both for everyday casual use and more dedicated fitness enthusiasts.
