Xiaomi and Huawei planning a Google-free future?
|
While Google is finalizing Android 16, some spicy rumors are shaking up the Android world. Word is that Xiaomi might join forces with Huawei (and possibly even BBK Group) to develop a Google-free ecosystem, pushing its HyperOS as a standalone platform — no GMS, no Android strings attached.
Inspired by Huawei’s HarmonyOS NEXT, which already runs smoothly without Android in China, Xiaomi may be plotting a similar path. This move could challenge Google’s dominance, but it’s risky. Going Google-free globally means building a whole new app and service network — a costly and uncertain venture.
Still, if true, this could be the start of a major shift in the mobile OS landscape. Android might no longer be the only king on the global throne.
