Redmi A5 Launching in India. Budget phone with 120Hz Display and 5200mAh Battery
|Xiaomi is all set to drop a new budget-friendly smartphone in India — say hello to the Redmi A5! The official launch is happening on April 15 at 12 PM IST, and we already have a sneak peek at the price.
According to the report, the Redmi A5 will start at just ₹6,499 for the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage version. It’ll be available on Flipkart and Xiaomi India’s website once it goes live..
The phone comes with a 6.88-inch LCD screen (yup, it’s pretty big), rocking a 1640 x 720 resolution and a super-smooth 120Hz refresh rate. It’s not the brightest out there, maxing at 450 nits, but for the price, it’s solid. It’s also lightweight at 193g and comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and face unlock via AI.
Under the hood, you’ve got the Unisoc T7250 processor — an octa-core chip that can hit speeds up to 1.8GHz. There’s 128GB of expandable storage and 6GB of RAM, plus 4GB of virtual RAM to give you a little extra boost when multitasking.
Battery life should be pretty impressive too — there’s a 5,200 mAh battery inside with support for 15W fast charging through USB-C. Camera-wise, you’re getting a 32MP main shooter on the back and an 8MP selfie cam up front. On the software side, the phone runs Android 15 (Go Edition), which is designed to keep things smooth even on entry-level hardware.
Connectivity includes dual SIM support, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, and even a 3.5mm headphone jack — yes, that’s still a thing!
All in all, the Redmi A5 looks like a solid pick for anyone hunting for a wallet-friendly smartphone with some nice extras.
