Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max launch with rear displays and 200MP cameras
Xiaomi has launched the 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max in China, pairing Leica-branded cameras with secondary rear screens, large silicon-carbon batteries and display-based privacy features. The two phones share much of their hardware, but differ in screen size, processor, battery capacity and price.
Displays and performance
The Xiaomi 18 Pro has a 6.4-inch flat OLED display with a 2436 × 1120 resolution. The Pro Max expands that to 6.9 inches and 2624 × 1208 pixels. Both offer a 1–120Hz adaptive refresh rate, bezels measuring 0.99mm and a claimed peak brightness of 4,000 nits. Xiaomi also lists its Super Pixel 2.0 and M11 OLED technologies for both panels.
The displays include a hardware-level privacy feature designed to make content harder to view from the side. Xiaomi says it can also activate automatically for sensitive apps and content.
Around the back, the 18 Pro has a 2.7-inch OLED display, while the Pro Max gets a 2.9-inch version. Both support refresh rates of up to 120Hz and a claimed peak brightness of 4,000 nits. Xiaomi says the rear screens support more than 100 app cards at launch, covering notifications, quick controls, mini-games and AI-generated designs.
The 18 Pro runs on Qualcomm’s 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, while the Pro Max uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. Both chips use Qualcomm’s fourth-generation Oryon CPU architecture; Xiaomi says the standard version reaches speeds of up to 5GHz. Each phone is available with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.
For cooling, Xiaomi uses a circular cold-pump system with a 4,355mm² heat-dissipation area in the Pro and a 5,513mm² area in the Pro Max.
Cameras and software
Both models have the same Leica-branded rear camera configuration: a 200MP main camera with a 1/1.28-inch Light Hunter 960 sensor, a 200MP periscope telephoto with a 1/1.56-inch sensor, and a 50MP ultrawide. The telephoto offers 3.2× optical zoom, a claimed 12.8× lossless zoom, 75mm portrait shooting and macro focusing from 12cm.
Xiaomi has also introduced Legendary Moment, an imaging system that combines on-device and cloud processing with three dedicated photographic styles.
The phones ship with HyperOS 4, including an updated Alive Design interface and Super XiaoAI 2.0. Powered by Xiaomi’s MiMo large language model, the assistant is designed for tasks such as travel planning and smart-home control, with cross-device features spanning Xiaomi phones and tablets, Windows PCs and Macs. A customizable AI button can provide shortcuts to XiaoAI, voice notes, mute mode and privacy controls.
Battery and other features
The smaller 18 Pro contains a 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery; the Pro Max raises capacity to 8,500mAh. Both support 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging and 27W wired reverse charging. Xiaomi claims their batteries will retain at least 80% of their original capacity after 2,000 charge cycles.
Other shared features include UWB, 5G-A, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, compatible UWB digital car keys, upgraded vibration motors and Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0. Xiaomi lists IP66, IP68 and IP69 ratings for both phones. The 18 Pro weighs 203g and has Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, while the Pro Max starts at 235g and uses a three-speaker arrangement.
