Gemini will soon answer your questions in Google Maps

Artificial intelligence is getting smarter every day, and it’s also making its way into more existing apps and services on our phones.

The latest Gemini feature makes a direct connection to the Google Maps app and gives users the ability to ask contextual questions about specific places, such as “Where can I get milk nearby?”

The feature appears as a new “Ask about place” chip when you launch Gemini from the Google Maps app. Given that it’s in the early stages of implementation, it is not available to all users yet.

When the Gemini input sign opens at the bottom of the screen, a chip labeled “Ask about place” is visible. When you tap it, Google Maps forwards a link to Gemini which is supposed to understand your question. It will then answer it about how to get to that location, what’s nearby, and even give you details of the restaurant menu.

When the final version appears on our phones, we will be able to ask Gemini for information about restaurants, businesses, landmarks, and more.
