Hrvatski Telekom and Nokia Launch Pilot Projects to Boost 5G Application Development in Croatia
|Hrvatski Telekom (HT) and Nokia are collaborating on pilot projects to expand 5G application development in Croatia, aiming to give developers access to HT’s advanced 5G network capabilities. The collaboration will leverage Nokia’s “Network as Code” platform, which includes a developer portal to help local developers create valuable apps for consumers, businesses, and industrial use.
The initiative brings together a network of Nokia’s API ecosystem partners, including Croatia’s own Infobip and teledriving pioneer Elmo. By integrating Nokia’s platform with Infobip’s CPaaS (Communications Platform as a Service), developers will gain access to APIs for real-time communication features, like SMS, voice, and video, along with network capabilities such as Quality of Service on Demand, tailored for secure and reliable 5G applications.
This collaboration highlights Elmo’s teledriving technology, which uses HT’s 5G network and Infobip’s APIs to ensure seamless video transmission for remote vehicle operation. Teledriving allows human drivers to control vehicles remotely, useful in situations where safety and accessibility are critical.
Nokia has a growing network of 27 partners across Europe, the Americas, and Asia, ranging from telecom operators like BT and Telefonica to major tech companies, and will continue to expand its network to support innovative 5G applications globally.
This is an interesting announcement as Nokiamob’s founding fathers are Croatian. However, I’m on a different network, so I’m not directly benefitting from Nokia’s networking software. But, it’s exciting to see Hrvatski Telekom and Nokia working locally to expand what’s possible with 5G.
