The most affordable smartphone of the Nokia lineup and a Nokia flagship both received the May security update from Google. The update for Nokia 1 is 108.3MB in size and alongside the security patch, HMD also delivers stability improvements. NPU reports that the update is available for users in India and Iraq at the moment. If you received the update, tell us in the comments which market so we can help track.
The security update, roughly at the same time, was also released for the Nokia 8. Even though Nokia 8 users hoped for something more, like the new camera app that is coming shortly, they’re left this time “just” with the security update for May at a size of 77MB. To check for the update, head to Settings->System->System Update.
It’s nice to see how HMD cares for all devices from the Nokia Android smartphone portfolio. Hopefully, the Nokia 8 users will soon get the new camera app, and the Nokia 2 should finally get the promised upgrade to Android 8.1 Oreo, that should bring performance improvements, on which we all are still waiting for.
