HMD to Reuse Skyline Design for Budget Phones
|Smashx_60 has unveiled renders and specifications for an unannounced HMD Global smartphone, named Sage. The renders suggest that Sage will be based on the sleek design of the HMD Skyline, with similar, if not identical, body lines. While it’s unclear if the materials will match, it’s likely that the body will be made of polycarbonate plastic, reminiscent of the N9/Lumia 920. The colours look fine too.
However, the specifications won’t be the same as Skyline. HMD has opted for a more affordable UNISOC processor that supports 5G. On the back, there will be a single 50 MP camera, paired with a similar 50 MP front camera—a strategy seen previously with the Pulse Pro.
“SAGE” Key Specs:
- 6.55″ OLED FHD+, 90Hz
- 50 MP rear / 50 MP front cameras
- Unisoc T760 5G processor
- 33W fast charging, USB-C 2.0
- Polycarbonate frame, matte back, glass front
- IP52 rating, 3.5mm jack, NFC, and more
HMD has a strong partnership with UNISOC, so this choice doesn’t necessarily mean the Sage will lack in performance. However, to improve its market appeal, a MediaTek processor might have been a more competitive choice.
