Nokia T20 and Nokia XR21 Receiving New Updates
HMD Global has released new updates for the Nokia T20 tablet and two versions of the Nokia XR21: the standard model and the limited EU edition. Here’s a quick overview of the updates in progress.
- Nokia T20 Tablet: The Nokia T20 is receiving the October 2024 Google Security Patch, which enhances system security (check the Android Bulletin for more update details). The update size is 22.41 MB, indicating a light patch focused mainly on security without additional feature updates.
- Nokia XR21 Smartphones: Both versions of the Nokia XR21 are installing a major update, upgrading to Android 14 (version 3.210). This update promises improvements in system stability and user interface enhancements. Additionally, it includes the September 2024 Google Security Patch, suggesting that the October patch will follow shortly.The limited edition Nokia XR21 update is 608 MB, while the standard model’s update is significantly larger at 2.42 GB. This may indicate that the standard XR21 is receiving the full Android 14 update package, potentially covering previously missed updates.
It’s reassuring to see that HMD Global is committed to keeping its Nokia device lineup secure and functioning well. This could also be a preparation for Android 15, as no major new features are immediately noticeable with this update. I just saw that the camera app on both devices has been bumped from 98.14.52002.20 to 98.14. 53402.10.
