HMD Preps Atlas 5G and new Vibe colours

HMD has consistently treated the US market better, offering affordable phones with better specs than in other regions. Their Vibe series once again looks far superior to the Pulse, and, according to the latest leaks from smashx_60, new color options may also be on the way. However, I agree with the leaker’s comment that HMD seems more creative in naming the colors than in designing the devices themselves.

The Vibe won’t be alone for long, as HMD is gearing up to launch Atlas, a promising entry-level midrange device. The device render first popped up in June. Here’s a look at the leaked specs from smashx_60:

HMD Atlas 5G (Codename)

  • 6.64″ FHD+ IPS display, 120Hz
  • 48MP + 5MP + 2MP rear cameras / 16MP front camera
  • Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC
  • 8GB RAM
  • 5,470mAh battery
  • Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, 5G, OZO Audio, 3.5mm jack, side-mounted fingerprint sensor
  • Expected price: $219

The pricing of both the Vibe (149 USD) and Atlas (219 USD) speaks volumes. These affordable smartphones look good and should easily handle daily tasks (and hopefully more). There could also be a Seahawk or Vibe Pro that could bring a bit more powerful processor, but I think that these two are OK for entering the pretty saturated US market.
