Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 8s Gen3
|Qualcomm has introduced its latest chipset, the Snapdragon 8s Gen3, which sits just below the top-tier Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 but comes packed with some flagship features.
It is made on a 4nm process and it boasts a 1+4+3 configuration. Its leading ARM Cortex X4 core clocks in at an impressive 3.0 GHz, complemented by four Performance cores running at 2.8 GHz and three efficiency cores at 2.0 GHz. This setup deviates from the 1+5+2 arrangement found in the 8 Gen 3, swapping an efficiency core for another performance core.
In terms of functionality, this chipset introduces an ISP enabling real-time semantic segmentation, empowering it to recognize up to 12 layers (faces, hair, clothing, sky, etc.) within images and videos.
Moreover, emphasis is placed on gaming, with hardware-accelerated real-time ray tracing, connectivity bolstered by the X70 modem instead of the X75, and audio enhancements featuring LE Audio Auracast. This is all complemented by Snapdragon Seamless experiences across diverse devices.
Although I’d love to see this processor used in HMD’s devices, manufacturers that will be leading the charge in integrating this processor into their upcoming models over the next few months are Honor, iQOO, Realme, Redmi, and Xiaomi.
What do you think will be the processor of choice for HMD Fusion (the device that will have all those smart outfits)? Maybe SD 7 Gen 3?
