Nokia 2.2 is now recieving Android 10 upgrade
|
Juho Sarvikas, CPO for HMD Global, recently posted Nokia Mobile’s new update plan on Twitter. The slight delay for the update schedule is due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which also affects other smartphone brands. On the graphics, the new timeline for the update is laid down, although not the exact dates are not being determined. In Q1 2020, Android 10 update is planned only for the Nokia 2.2, and it comes as no surprise that some Nokia 2.2 units now start receiving it.
While we have taken all the steps to fight COVID-19, we still aim to be the fastest brand to update its portfolio to Android 10. Although our schedule changed a bit, we’re proud to announce a number of phones will be upgraded soon and excited to share our new roadmap: pic.twitter.com/nKEYSkI8Ow

The new update, version number V2.300, is about 1.1GB in size. This brings all the new Android 10 features like an improved dark mode, new gesture navigation, and privacy controls among other things.
Unfortunately, Nokia Mobile decided to only include a February 2020 security patch in the upgrade package.
Nokia 2.2 users, now is your chance to update to Android 10! All performance-enhancing features are now available! Stay tuned for the same update for our other Nokia phones #nokiamobile pic.twitter.com/0eTzk9hvF6

Regardless, this Android 10 update should put the Nokia 2.2 out of risk from critical security exploit known as MediaTek-su (formerly known as CVE-2020-0069). This exploit also affects the Nokia 2.3, which also uses the same MediaTek Helio A22 SoC. Fortunately, the Nokia 2.3 is also expected to get its Android 10 update soon.
So, check your beloved 2.2 and share with others if you received the update.
Cheers Hotlain for the screenshot 😉
