Nokia Mobile revises Android 10 update schedule for Nokia smartphones
|Nokia Mobile’s CPO Juho Sarvikas announced via Twitter that due to COVID-19 outbreak there will be some changes in the Android 10 update schedule for Nokia smartphones.
Nokia smartphones that received Android 10 thus far are:
- Nokia 7.1
- Nokia 8.1
- Nokia 9 PureView
- Nokia 7 plus
- Nokia 6.1 Plus
- Nokia 6.1
While we have taken all the steps to fight COVID-19, we still aim to be the fastest brand to update its portfolio to Android 10. Although our schedule changed a bit, we’re proud to announce a number of phones will be upgraded soon and excited to share our new roadmap: pic.twitter.com/nKEYSkI8Ow

The new roadmap shows that Nokia Mobile still aims to upgrade all eligible Nokia smartphones to Android 10 by the end of the first half of 2020. The reason for the changes in the update schedule is COVID-19 outbreak, which probably forced a lot of Nokia Mobile software engineers to stay at home and/or work at a slower pace than usual.
The new schedule looks like this:
- Q1 2020 (January – March): Nokia 2.2
- Between Q1 and Q2 (probably late March or early April)
- Nokia 2.3
- Nokia 3.2
- Nokia 4.2
- Nokia 7.2
- Nokia 6.2
- Nokia 3.1 Plus
- Nokia 8 Sirocco
- Q2 2020 (April-June):
- Nokia 5.1 Plus
- Nokia 1 Plus
- Nokia 2.1
- Nokia 3.1
- Nokia 5.1
- Nokia 1
Software upgrades aren’t the only thing that was delayed due to the global crisis. The whole MWC2020 was cancelled and we are still waiting for Nokia Mobile’s new devices. We shouldn’t wait long, because the next announcement is scheduled for 19th March in London. Hopefully then we will finally see new Nokia devices, of which the most interesting could be the first 5G Nokia phone – Nokia 8.3.
