Stadika is the winner of Helsinki 5G base station design contest

The title said it all. The City of Helsinki will be using Stadika base stations and network environment for its 5G network. Finnish capital together with Elisa and Nokia cooperated with design expert organisation Ornamo to find the best design for Helsinki’s 5G base stations. They organized a contest where designers could suggest their solution for the base station. The best five, Kehikot, Stadika, Nest, Reflect and Dice Dice Baby, were chosen in the first round of the contest where the public could vote.

In the second round, Stadika was chosen by the jury as the best design solution while the runnerups were Kehikot and Reflect. The team behind the winning design won €20,000, while the second team got €10,000 for Reflect and third team got €5,000 for the Kehikot.

Stadika looked the best for me, even though Dyce Dyce Baby had a much cooler name. The design is quite simple, something like Nokia itself would have done. It looks cool with that Nokia logo in the center, but some other signs can be placed there. I think that the jury did its job well.
