China edition Nokia 7 got Android 9 Pie update with many improvements
|HMD has been releasing a lot of updates this week, from Android Pie beta for Nokia 8, across the December security updates for various devices, to new Pie builds for Nokia 7.1 and 8.1. It’s still not perfect, considering both flagships aren’t officially running Android Pie, but for a company with under a 1000 employees, it’s impressive.
This week another Nokia device that we didn’t mention started receiving Android 9 Pie, and that’s the Nokia 7. Nokia 7 was announced a year ago as a China exclusive, and, as all Nokia phones in China, it comes with HMD’s custom ROM with additional features. Android One and Google Apps aren’t officially available in China, so HMD customizes its UI. A lot of global users would love to see HMD’s custom touch on “Pure Android” and let’s hope we will see that in the future.
The Android 9 Pie update released for Nokia 7 is 1.6GB in size and features a long and detailed changelog. NokiaCamp reported that their unit received the update, and you can check the changelog down below.
