Huawei Pura 90 Plus Launches with Kirin 9025 Chip and Variable Aperture Camera

Huawei Pura 90 Plus

Huawei has officially unveiled the Pura 90 Plus in China, debuting the brand’s latest in-house silicon and a unique ergonomic design that sets it apart from its immediate siblings. Following a week of teasers and early pre-orders, the tech giant has now confirmed the complete specifications for its newest premium handset.

The Pura 90 Plus stands alone in the Pura 90 family by embracing a curved metal frame, a deliberate departure from the flat-edge aesthetics of the Pro and Pro Max models. According to Huawei, this structural shift enhances both the device’s grip and tactile feel. Consumers can choose from four distinct colorways: Obsidian Black, Snow White, Sunset Purple, and Dawn Gold.

Dominating the front of the device is a 6.8-inch quad-curved LTPO display with a sharp 2848 x 1276 resolution. The panel is engineered for smooth visuals and efficiency, supporting an adaptive refresh rate that scales from 1Hz up to 120Hz, alongside 1440Hz PWM dimming for eye comfort and a highly responsive 300Hz touch sampling rate.

Huawei Pura 90 Plus

Under the hood, the Pura 90 Plus is the first smartphone to be powered by Huawei’s new Kirin 9025 chipset. The company claims that deep integration across its hardware, software, chipset, and cloud architecture results in a 19% boost to overall system performance. The device runs on HarmonyOS 7 and introduces an aggressive Super Storage feature, which can reportedly reclaim up to 110GB of usable space on the top-tier 1TB configuration.

Huawei continues to heavily emphasize mobile photography with its XMAGE imaging system. The rear camera module is headlined by a 50-megapixel primary shooter utilizing a massive 1-inch sensor, complete with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a mechanical variable aperture that shifts from f/1.6 to f/4.0. The main sensor is supported by a highly capable array:

  • Telephoto: 48-megapixel macro telephoto lens with an f/2.1 aperture and OIS.

  • Ultra-wide: 40-megapixel sensor with an f/2.2 aperture.

  • Color Sensor: A specialized 1.5-megapixel multispectral “red maple” color camera.

This hardware is backed by a robust suite of software tools designed for versatile shooting environments, including AI Pose Recommendation, AI Assisted Composition, Ultra HD Panorama, Super Night Scene, and Space Chasing.

To power the high-end hardware, the Pura 90 Plus relies on a substantial 5,700mAh battery. Replenishing the cell is remarkably fast, thanks to support for 100W wired charging and 80W wireless charging. For off-the-grid reliability, the handset retains Huawei’s signature two-way BeiDou satellite messaging capabilities and supports the company’s advertised “5A” cellular connectivity speeds.
