Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra to Feature Upgraded Privacy Display Without Quality Loss

Privacy Display

Samsung is reportedly overhauling its proprietary Privacy Display technology for the upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra and the newly anticipated Galaxy S27 Pro, aiming to eliminate the visual compromises that plagued the feature’s first iteration.

Powered by Samsung Display’s Flex Magic Pixel technology, the original Privacy Display restricts off-axis viewing angles to shield sensitive information from onlookers. While effective—and customizable for either the entire system or specific applications—the current version notably degrades the user’s direct viewing experience. Activating the feature softens the screen, significantly reducing sharpness and overall image fidelity even when viewing the device straight on.

According to industry tipster Sawyergalox, the second-generation Privacy Display is engineered to resolve these drawbacks. The updated technology promises higher resolution while active, clearer overall image quality, and optimized viewing angles for the primary user. If successful, this refinement will allow users to leave the privacy filter engaged permanently without sacrificing everyday display performance.

The leak also suggests a broader rollout, expanding the feature beyond a single flagship to both the Galaxy S27 Ultra and the S27 Pro. The devices are expected to launch in February 2027 running One UI 9.5 based on Android 17, with an estimated US starting price positioned between $1,400 and $1,500.
