Google Pixel 12 Pro Fold Leaks Reveal Major Display Upgrades
Google’s upcoming Pixel 12 lineup has surfaced in the GSMA IMEI database, revealing a strategic focus on upgrading the foldable experience while implementing subtle display refinements across its standard flagship tier. Tech publication OVRPlus uncovered four unannounced model identifiers—the Pixel 12, Pixel 12 Pro, Pixel 12 Pro XL, and Pixel 12 Pro Fold—alongside their preliminary screen resolutions.
The traditional slab-style smartphones in the Pixel 12 series feature minor vertical pixel reductions compared to their Pixel 11 predecessors. Because the horizontal pixel counts remain completely unchanged, these adjustments point toward a slight tweak in aspect ratio rather than a radical design overhaul. Without confirmed physical screen dimensions, the exact impact on overall pixel density is unknown, but the day-to-day visual difference for consumers is expected to be minimal.
The most significant hardware evolution belongs to the Pixel 12 Pro Fold. The internal foldable display jumps to a resolution of 2296 × 2404, a notable increase from the Pixel 11 Pro Fold’s 2076 × 2152 panel. This translates to a 10% to 24% increase in total pixels, delivering enhanced sharpness for text, media, and split-screen multitasking. By maintaining the near-square form factor for its inner screen, Google is iterating on its established design language rather than adopting the wider aspect ratios favored by some competing foldables.
Critical specifications such as the outer-display resolution, battery capacities, and next-generation Tensor processor architecture remain absent from these early IMEI filings. The Pixel 12 series is projected for an August 2027 launch, and while these database entries provide a strong indicator of Google’s display strategy, final hardware metrics could still shift before production.
