Redmi 17C 5G Launches in India: Huge 6,000mAh Battery & 120Hz Display

Following its initial debut in Singapore this past August, Xiaomi is officially bringing the Redmi 17C 5G to the Indian market. Engineered specifically for consumers who prioritize screen real estate and battery longevity, the new budget handset delivers robust foundational hardware while making strategic compromises typical of its price bracket.
Redmi 17C 5G Display and Build
Dominating the device is an expansive 6.9-inch LCD panel. While the resolution sits at a modest 1600 x 720 (HD+), Xiaomi smooths out the visual experience with a fluid 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and DC dimming technology. The screen also carries TÜV Rheinland certifications for eye comfort and blue light reduction.
Physically, the Redmi 17C 5G maintains a relatively slim profile at 7.99mm thick and weighs 211 grams. It features an IP64 rating for basic dust and splash resistance, alongside a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a classic 3.5mm headphone jack. Notably, the display utilizes Wet Touch technology, ensuring the screen remains responsive even when the user’s hands or the glass itself are damp.
Performance and Software
Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300, a 6nm processor designed to handle everyday multitasking and provide reliable 5G connectivity. Buyers can configure the device with either 4GB or 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM. Both variants come equipped with 128GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage, which can be expanded up to 1TB via a dedicated microSD card slot.
On the software front, the Redmi 17C 5G ships with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3. Despite its budget positioning, the operating system integrates several modern Google AI utilities, including Circle to Search, Gemini Live, and on-device image generation tools.
Battery and Cameras
Endurance is the standout pillar of the Redmi 17C 5G. Xiaomi has integrated a massive 6,000mAh battery designed to easily power the large 6.9-inch display through a full day of heavy use. The battery is rated for exceptional longevity, promising to retain at least 80% of its original capacity even after 1,000 charge cycles. The device supports 33W fast charging—with the necessary adapter conveniently included in the box—and offers 10W reverse wired charging to juice up smaller accessories on the go.
The camera system is strictly utilitarian. The rear module is headlined by a 50-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, supported by a basic auxiliary lens. An 8-megapixel front-facing camera handles video calls and selfies. Video recording for both the front and rear cameras is capped at standard 1080p at 30 frames per second.
Redmi 17C 5G Pricing and Availability
The Redmi 17C 5G will be available in India starting October 7th via mi.com, Amazon India, and major offline retailers. Xiaomi is offering the device in three distinct colorways: Dark Night, Purple Dawn, and a premium-looking Coffee Brew option featuring a textured vegan leather back. The 4GB RAM base model is priced at ₹20,999, while the 6GB RAM variant will retail for ₹22,999.
