‘RAMageddon’ Strikes: Samsung Galaxy S26 Series Gets Massive Price Hike in India

The global AI-induced memory component shortage has officially reached the premium smartphone tier. Starting September 18, 2026, Samsung is imposing a flat ₹20,000 (approximately $209) price hike across its entire flagship Galaxy S26 lineup in India.

According to retail documentation dispatched to authorized Samsung dealers, the price adjustment affects all storage configurations of the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and the top-tier Galaxy S26 Ultra. This aggressive pricing update follows recent, quieter price bumps applied to Samsung’s entry-level and mid-range devices.

The underlying cause is a severe, industry-wide squeeze on RAM and NAND storage supplies, colloquially dubbed “RAMageddon.” As enterprise tech giants aggressively stockpile memory components to build massive artificial intelligence data centers, consumer electronics manufacturers are left battling for a dwindling, increasingly expensive supply of silicon. The result is an unavoidable price creep bleeding directly into consumer pockets.

With this latest adjustment, the entry point for the base Galaxy S26 crosses the one-lakh threshold, while a fully specced Galaxy S26 Ultra now demands well over two lakh rupees.
