Redmi K90 Max Officially Launched: Xiaomi’s First Gaming Phone with a Built-In Fan

Redmi K90 Max

Xiaomi has officially expanded its flagship smartphone portfolio with the launch of the Redmi K90 Max in China. Joining the existing K90 and K90 Pro Max, this new variant distinguishes itself by directly targeting the dedicated gaming market. Most notably, the K90 Max is the first smartphone under the Xiaomi umbrella to feature an active built-in cooling fan, positioning it as a direct competitor to established gaming devices like the RedMagic 11 Pro.

Redmi K90 Max: Performance and Innovative Active Cooling

At the core of the Redmi K90 Max is the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset, built to deliver premium-tier processing power. To maximize gaming performance, Xiaomi has paired this primary processor with a dedicated D2 independent graphics chip. This dual-chip architecture facilitates advanced frame interpolation, allowing compatible titles to reach up to 165 frames per second (fps) natively.

To sustain this high level of performance without thermal throttling, Xiaomi has integrated an 18.1mm active cooling fan. Operating within an independent, sealed air duct with a full-metal bearing structure, the fan generates an airflow of 0.42 Cubic Feet per Minute (CFM). According to the manufacturer, this active thermal management system can reduce internal temperatures by 10°C in just 100 seconds. Despite the physical opening required for the exhaust grille, the device maintains rigorous IP66, IP68, and IP69 certifications for dust and water resistance.

Display and Multimedia Experience

The visual experience is anchored by a 6.83-inch flat OLED display utilizing M10 luminescent material. The panel offers a 1.5K resolution and a high 165Hz refresh rate, ensuring fluid motion during competitive gameplay. It supports full brightness DC dimming, Dolby Vision, and boasts a peak brightness of 3,500 nits.

For audio, the K90 Max is equipped with 1115X symmetric dual speakers. These speakers have been optimized in collaboration with Bose, aiming to deliver balanced stereo output with clear treble and rich bass.

Battery Life and Camera Capabilities

Endurance is another focal point of the device. It houses a massive 8,550mAh silicon-carbon battery, engineered to support extended gaming sessions. The battery supports 100W wired fast charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging. Furthermore, it features bypass charging, which allows power to be routed directly to the motherboard during gameplay, mitigating heat generation and preserving battery health over time.

While gaming phones traditionally compromise on optics, the K90 Max retains a highly capable camera array. The rear setup features an optically stabilized (OIS) 50-megapixel primary sensor that supports native 2x optical-quality zoom, flanked by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens. A 20-megapixel front-facing camera handles selfies and video calls.

The Redmi K90 Max is available in Space Silver, Shadow Black, and Sky Blue. Pricing in the Chinese market starts at a highly competitive CNY 3,499 (approximately $513), though global availability has yet to be officially confirmed.
