Honor 500 Series Launched: 8,000mAh Battery and IP69K Rating in a Slim Body

Honor has officially unveiled its latest flagship lineup, the Honor 500 series, signaling a major leap forward in smartphone engineering. Comprising the standard Honor 500 and the premium Honor 500 Pro, the new range moves beyond iterative updates, offering aggressive specifications that challenge current industry limits—particularly in battery density and durability.
Honor 500: Massive Power in a Slim Profile
The most striking feature of the new lineup is undoubtedly its power system. In a feat of engineering that defies conventional size-to-capacity ratios, Honor has managed to integrate a massive 8,000mAh battery into a chassis that measures just 7.75mm in thickness.
This high-density battery technology promises to eliminate range anxiety entirely, with Honor claiming up to 26 days of standby time and 45 hours of continuous calling. When the tank finally runs dry, the devices support 80W superfast wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
Honor 500 Design: Industrial-Grade Durability
Visually, the series adopts a streamlined aesthetic featuring a flat frame with rounded corners and a display bordered by razor-thin 1.05mm bezels. The chassis is constructed using a “seamless cold-carving” process, which Honor claims achieves 96% light transmittance for a crystal-like finish.

However, the real story is the ruggedness. Both phones come with IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings. The inclusion of IP69K is particularly notable, as it certifies the devices against high-pressure, high-temperature water jets—a standard rarely seen in consumer electronics.
Display: 6,000 Nits and Ultrasonic Security
The front of the devices features a 6.55-inch HDR AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. To ensure legibility in all conditions, the panel boasts a blinding 6,000 nits peak brightness and ultra-high frequency PWM dimming for eye comfort.
A key differentiator lies in biometrics: the Honor 500 Pro is equipped with a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, offering faster and more secure unlocking compared to the optical solutions found on many competitors.
Cameras: Mirrorless-Grade Stabilization
The rear camera module, designed as a horizontal pill expanding from left to right, houses a serious photography setup. The Honor 500 Pro headlines with a 200MP primary camera (1/1.4-inch sensor, f/1.9 aperture) supported by OIS and advanced AI processing.
Honor highlights the inclusion of CIPA 5.0 image stabilization, a standard typically associated with mirrorless cameras, promising exceptional stability for both photos and video. The Pro model also features a 50MP telephoto lens and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor. The standard model retains the main and ultra-wide shooters but omits the telephoto lens. Both devices sport a 50MP front-facing camera capable of 4K video recording.
Performance
Under the hood, the series is powered by Qualcomm’s latest silicon—the Snapdragon 8 Elite and Snapdragon 8S Gen 4 chipsets. These are paired with 12GB or 16GB of RAM, with storage options maxing out at a generous 1TB, ensuring that the massive battery is backed by equally massive processing power.
